Explore NOLA & West Bank

Communities

You don’t have to live in the heart of New Orleans to experience all it has to offer. Just a bridge away is the West Bank….a collection of small towns and neighborhoods winding along the banks of the river, stretching from historic Algiers Point all the way to the more rural setting of Waggaman, with loads of choices in between.

Upscale, luxury subdivisions, golf communities, National Historic Districts, acreage to spread out in. All of this and more can be found as we welcome you to the West Bank of New Orleans.

JBL Homes began developing Oak Forest in the mid 1980′s, with some construction continuing up to around 2000.  Tucked in between Barataria Blvd and Lafitte Larose Highway, it’s set just minutes from the Barataria Preserve, with hiking, canoeing, bird watching and more.

Homes styles vary from ranchers to traditional 2 stories, with an average of 3 bedrooms and 2 baths. Sizes range from small starter homes of around 1200 square feet to larger properties with over 2400 square feet of living.  Fenced yards and garages are the norm in Oak Forest, providing privacy and storage when you need it.  There’s a community pool and clubhouse for residents, although some home owners have installed their own private pools over the years.

Oak Forest is far enough away from New Orleans to feel like the ‘burbs, but close enough to hit downtown in less than 30 minutes when you want to visit the Aquarium, the French Quarter or any of the other attractions in the city.

Golf course homes on the West Bank of New Orleans

I don’t play golf.  I can barely even play mini-golf without the threat of harming someone or something. But, I love the way golf courses look and to have that right outside my back door would be wonderful. On the West Bank, we have several communities with golf courses in or adjacent to them –…
