Woodland West subdivision • Harvey LA
You’d never know when driving on Lapalco Blvd. through Harvey, that just behind the fire station is the lovely community of Woodland West, home to a large, neighborhood park, swim club and Woodland West Elementary School.
Woodland West was originally developed in the late 1960s to early 1970s and consists of a variety of ranch and traditional style homes. 3 and 4 bedrooms are the norm, typically with 2 or 2 1/2 bath. Sizes range from 1600 to almost 3000 square feet. You’ll find a few newer homes sprinkled through the subdivision, but they are not what you’ll normally find on the market in this neighborhood. Most homes have garages and fenced yards for privacy.
Because this is an established neighborhood, you’ll find that many of the homes have been added on to or updated over the years, giving each of them something unique to offer buyers relocating to Harvey. The area is popular with incoming military personnel, since the base is a 20 minute commute (even less if you take the new Harvey Blvd. route to Belle Chasse)
The location is great, between Manhattan Blvd. and the Harvey Canal, so grocery stores, shopping, dining, a huge regional library and recreation are all nearby. Harvey has become the retail center of the West Bank, with so many choices for residents without the need to cross the river.
