New Orleans Real Estate FAQ | Why Isn’t My House in the Newspaper?

Real Estate Advertising

As I read through various real estate sites where home buyers and sellers can ask questions, I often run across a home owner who is not happy because their house is not being advertised in the local newspaper.

What they don’t seem to realize is that print advertising when selling your home is one of the least effective ways of marketing a property to as many qualified buyers as possible and is becoming more obsolete by the year.  All you have to do is take a look at the ever shrinking Real Estate section of the Times-Picayune to know that in New Orleans there are very few agents that are still using the paper as a marketing tool.

Why have so many agents stopped using the newspaper?

Here is a graph of home buyer activity in 2008:

Where buyers found their home

Now, look at the 2009 survey:

90 percent of home buyers using net

If 90% of home buyers are using the internet as an information source, isn’t that where you want your home to be featured?
