King Cake Kick Off Party in Algiers LA

I haven’t been able to resist jumping the gun and buying my first king cake before the official start of Carnival season on January 6th.  I completely blame the nice people at Rouse’s Supermarkets for putting together such an inviting display table to greet me as soon as I walk in the door.

In the event that you prefer to wait for your first slice, don’t miss the King Cake Kick off party on Sunday, January 29th from 12:00-4:00p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Algiers Point.

There will be hot dogs & chili, baked beans, king cake (of course!), soft drinks, local beers and live music from Benny Grunch and Da Bunch.  Open to the public, it’s a family friendly event perfect for a Sunday afternoon.

Trinity Lutheran is located at the corner of Eliza & Olivier Streets

I think people in NOLA must have more fun than the rest of us. Love the idea of the cake and am searching for a place in Chicago area to buy one. Still warming up to the baby.

I think we DO have more fun, Leslie :) If you can’t find one in Chicago, you are welcome to book a flight…we can tour the city doing a taste test at all of the bakeries!
