While sales creeped up from September to October, the number of Gretna homes sold in 2008 is down 11% from the same time period last year. As the number of qualified and willing buyers decreases, home sellers need to be sure they are ready to sell their West Bank home BEFORE throwing their hat into an already crowded real estate market ring.
Of the 11 pending sales noted last month, only 5 actually made it to a successful closing during the month.

Note the downward trend in average home sale prices that has been slowing happening through the year. Not only is the October average sale price down to just over $90k, but the median sale price for the month dropped to only $66,500 (half of the sale were above this price point and half of the sales were below)
On a positive note, the year to date average Gretna home sale price is only slightly lower than the 2007 average.
