Timberlane Votes to Join City of Gretna

Yesterday’s election results are in and the residents of Timberlane Estates on both sides of Lapalco have voted to join the City of Gretna.  Although this will mean higher property taxes for home owners in the areas, they have been assured by Mayor Ronnie Harris and the city council that their request to become a gated community will be approved, reducing the through traffic between Lapalco and Belle Chasse Highway.

This has the residents of Bellemeade very unhappy, since restricting traffic from cutting through Timberlane will more than likely increase the amount of automobiles using Bellemeade as a short cut between the two major arteries in unincorporated Gretna.

I’m projecting an eventual increase in home values in Timberlane Estates.  The Gretna Police Department has long been touted for their fabulous response time and patrols and the addition of security gates will make this already exclusive golfing community even more so.  Only time will tell if I’m right.
