The forecast for Saturday is warm and sunny – what a great way to start the weekend!  Looking for something to do on the West Bank?  Check out what’s happening around town:

Friday Events things to do

The fish fries continue!  It won’t be long until they are a just a memory, so hang up your apron and head out to dinner.

St. Anthony School 900 Franklin Ave. Gretna, LA. 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm

Christ the King School 535 Deerfield Ave. Gretna, LA.  5:30 pm – 7:30 pm.

St. Andrew the Apostle 3101 Eton Street Algiers, LA.  5:30-8:30 pm

Visitation of Our Lady 3520 Ames Blvd.  Marrero, LA.  5:00 – 8:00 pm

KC Hall in Algiers Point, 342 Olivier Street, behind Holy Name of Mary Church, 6-8 pm.

The Knights of Columbus Council 6357 of Belle Chasse will hold a fish fry at 9016 Highway 23 (Belle Chasse Hwy) from 5:30 pm – 8:00 pm.

 

Saturday Events

brechtel park Friends of Brechtel Park

The Friends of Brechtel Park will be holding a general membership meeting, open to the public, at Park Timbers community center in Algiers.  If you are interested in helping with the revitalization and restoration of this Algiers treasure, make plans to attend on Saturday morning at 10:30 am.

veggies4Gretna Farmer’s Market

The weekly farmer’s market is located on Huey P. Long between 3rd and 4th Streets.  Locally produced food, wine, crafts, art and more. 8:30 am – 12:30 pm

st patrick St. Patrick’s Parade

Although not taking place on the West Bank, our friends from the Algiers Irish Rebels will be parading through the Irish Channel starting at 12:30 pm.  The weather looks great, so get out and catch that cabbage.  Don’t forget your sunscreen!

Craft Projects for Kids

Looking for a family friendly event?  Then check out the kids craft projects on Saturday at 10:30 am in the children’s wing of the West Bank Regional Library in Harvey, LA.

Sunday Eventstheatre 2

The final curtain call for Flanagan’s Wake will take place this Sunday at the   Teatro  Theatre in Westwego.  We got a small taste of the show when we visited the theatre a couple of weekends ago, and if you are looking to spend an afternoon filled with laughter, this is the place to be.   Get ticket information and directions.

St. Martha Catholic Church presents the 12th Annual Greater New Orleans Blarney Stone Irish Open:

Algiers Town Hall Meeting – IMPORTANT!Pot Hole 2

St. Mary’s Place, 3518 General Meyer Avenue.  Tuesday, March 18th at 6:30  pm.  This town hall meeting with Councilman James Carter will address the condition of streets in Algiers and provide information on proposed repairs to be made this year.  If you are concerned about the condition of streets in your neighborhood, make plans to attend this important meeting!  I bet whoever put this sign out will be there…
