Developed in the late 60s and early 70s, Walnut Bend is a well established subdivision in Algiers, Louisiana. Made up of over 500 homes, Walnut Bend is bounded by Holiday Place, MacArthur Blvd., General Meyer and Kabel Drive.
It is appropriate that Holiday Place is one of the main boundaries, since the streets within Walnut Bend have a “holiday” theme…take a drive down St. Nick Drive, enjoy Valentine Court or stroll down Easter Lane.
Walnut Bend has an active home owner’s association, but payment of dues and membership in the association are not required when purchasing a home in the neighborhood. One of the biggest events of the year in Walnut Bend is the Night Out Against Crime block party, held in August of each year. The home owner’s association always does a good job of planning a variety of events designed to bring neighbors together, including a monthly association meeting that is open to the public.
